Mr. Stephen Pursey, Senior Policy Adviser and G20 Coordinator, ILO
Stephen Pursey is a senior policy adviser and G20 coordinator at the Office of the Deputy Director General of the International Labour Organization. Amongst the issues he has worked on are international policy coherence, sustainable development, the impact of globalization on poverty reduction and decent work, measuring decent work, multinational enterprises and social policy, freedom of association and the right to bargain collectively, and trade and investment issues.
Most recently he has coordinated ILO contributions to the 2030 Agenda and inputs to the G20 process. He was the ILO Director-General’s Sherpa for the UN Chief Executives Board from 2012 to 2016. He led the ILO team that organized the 2010 IMF/ILO Oslo Conference on The Challenges of Growth, Employment and Social Cohesion and its follow-up.
Mr Pursey has served as a senior official of the ILO since 1999 including as senior policy adviser in the Cabinet of the Director-General and as Director of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation. He is currently ILO’s deputy G20 and G7 Sherpa and adviser to Deborah Greenfield DDG for Policy.
