Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity
Pursuant to Resolution A/RES/75/280 of 24 May 2021, the UN General Assembly has decided to convene an international meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity.” The meeting will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 2-3 June 2022.
Stockholm+50 will commemorate the passage of 50 years since the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and its outcome documents. It will contribute to the environmental dimension of sustainable development and seek to accelerate the implementation of commitments in the context of the Decade of Action for delivering the Sustainable Development Goals. It will also promote a sustainable recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
At their 27th meeting in 2021, the EMG Senior Officials expressed their overall support for making a contribution to the international meeting. They agreed that Stockholm+50 would offer a great opportunity for further aligning and operationalizing existing commitments on the environment.
